Back on the boat

So last night was NPS Team Tsunami’s first boat practice after taking a few weeks off for the Winter.
The temps was in the high 40s, there was a very light breeze coming from the northwest and the water was glassy.  It was almost perfect paddling weather and it sure did feel good to be back on the boat! 
Jason and I decided that last night’s practice would be more about getting our endurance back up and everyone did great!  We only had 10 paddlers but with just those 10 paddlers we got some good boat speed!  I could feel that the pool paddling practices during our time off of the boat were paying off!
NPS Team Tsunami is a fairly new team and we still have lots of work to do to get ready for our first race of the season down in Olympia, Wa. at the St Martin’s Dragon Boat Festival but i have faith we will have a good showing at the race!  Our team members have been working hard and I know they want to succeed just as much as both Jason and I do.
Oh and before I forget.. when we all got to the boat last night it looks like we have a new friend that was keeping watch while we were away.. who knew there are gators in the PNW?!?! Lol 😉
